Be R.E.A.L.

Rejoice Christian School is excited to host the second annual Be R.E.A.L. Conference on November 3-4. RCS will be partnering with Rejoice Church and Summit Ministries to provide an amazing resource for Rejoice families that will encourage and equip students (grades 7-12) and adults with the ability to stand firm for Christ in a world of opposing ideas.

This year, we will be hearing from Dr. Christopher Yuan. Dr.Yuan has taught the Bible at Moody Bible Institute for twelve years and his speaking ministry on faith and sexuality has reached five continents. He speaks at conferences, on college campuses, and in churches. He has co-authored with his mother their memoir, Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son’s Journey to God, A Broken Mother’s Search for Hope (100,000 copies sold and now in seven languages). He is also the author of Giving a Voice to the Voiceless. Christopher graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2005 and received a master’s in biblical exegesis in 2007 and a doctorate of ministry in 2014. Dr. Yuan’s newest book, Holy Sexuality and the Gospel: Sex, Desire, and Relationships Shaped by God’s Grand Story, was named 2020 Book of the Year for Social Issues by Outreach Magazine.

Join us for our evening sessions on November 4 where Dr. Yuan will be talking about sexuality and identity. In our world and culture, there’s a lot of confusion around the topic of sexuality. What is God’s design for sexuality? What is “holiness”? And is there such a thing as “holy” sexuality? Can you be a gay Christian? Dr. Yuan will articulate a biblical view of sexuality through the narrative of his transformation from an agnostic gay man to a Bible professor.

Schedule:

  • 5:30p – Registration and check-in
  • 6:00p – Welcome, announcements
  • 6:05p – Dr. Yuan’s testimony and talk about personal identity
  • 7:00p – Break
  • 7:15p – Q&A with Dr. Yuan
  • 8:00p – Workshop concludes

What is Be R.E.A.L.?

Reasonable

We want to help people to think well and pursue wisdom in every area of life (Proverbs 8). We believe that being able to reason well is part of what it means to worship God with all of our minds (Matthew 22:37).

Engaged

We want to encourage followers of Christ to put their worldview into practice by actively understanding and interacting with their communities (Jeremiah 29:7).

Aware

We want to expose the underlying assumptions that influence our culture so that we might take every thought captive to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Loving

In all things we want to be motivated by love for God and love for our neighbors so that we might reflect God’s love in our communities (1 John 4:7-21).
